This time we are introducing you to not a person from Mulund but an NGO "Karuna"


"Karuna" for animals in distress is a registered charitable society working 
for the welfare of mute and innocent animals. The organization was founded 
by Arvind Shah in January 1999 with the aim of caring for the sick and 
injured animals in misery. The organization has made restless efforts to improve 
the standard of animal care and rights. Starting with a work force of 4 people 
and only one animal ambulance van, the organization now has strength of 50 people 
and 10 animal ambulance vans operating in areas from Bandra to Dahisar and 
Mulund to Chembur, with head office in Andheri (W), the organization has its 
branches spread over in Ghatkopar, Goregaon, Mulund, Bhiwandi, Mumbai Central,
Thane, etc. Two more to start soon at Virar and Malad 

Activities - 
The organization makes concrete efforts for rescue and treatment of animals
in trouble. To support the cause of animal welfare Karuna also promotes the 
ideology of Vegetarianism. The organization creates awareness of animal rights
to eradicate cruelty on animals. If necessary, law enforcement is also done
to ensure the safety of animals. Activities like adoption & re-homing of animals, 
rehabilitation of wild animals and pet counseling are also undertaken. 

The organization also works for creating love and understanding towards animals 
through the medium of nature and environment education. Various activities and 
campaigns are undertaken with educational and financial institutions to promote
the insights of Karuna. The organization makes note worthy efforts by training
volunteers as paramedics. The volunteers learn first aid techniques, which 
enables them to care for sick and injured animals. 

How can you help - The trust has helped over one-lakh animals in distress till date. 
There is a constant need of donations to keep running the animal ambulances constantly.
You can surely help the organization achieve its aim through monetary aid, spare time,
knowledge and experience. The least anybody can do is to be vegetarian, spread our
message and just give us a call when you come across any animal in trouble.

Introduction

BAHENA was established on 30th September, 1993. 
 
Activities
 
Activities like "Jeevdaya", "Shaikshanik", "Vaidyakiya", "Naari
Swavalamban", "Bhookamp Rahat" are carried out by our Trust to help
the needy.

We have conducted One Seminar by 'Dr. Aruna K. Tijare' (M.A. Ph.D -
Industrial Psychology) on "Motivation & Emotional Intelligence" at
'Hotel City Point, Mumbai' on 17th March, 2002 which was greatly
appreciated by one and all. There were 70 participants.
 
On the Occasion of 10th Anniversary of our Trust, we have started "
FREE Ambulance Service for Stray Birds & Animals ".  Our aim in
starting this activity was lack of timely Medical Service available
for Stray Birds & Animals in our Vicinity. Thus we came forward to
start this activity.
 
We provide Medical Treatment Facilities in Mumbai Suburbs & Thane. Our
Ambulance Service is tremendously engaged in attending Direct Calls,
Maggot Cases & major Accident Cases. We also attend Birth Control
Cases as we think 'Chhota Parivaar Sukhi Parivaar' thus controlling
the population of street animals.
 
Our main aim of Free Ambulance Service is to Save Life till Last
Moment.  We believe in Saving the Life and not to Put Down any Life as
no one in this World has the right to kill or Put Down any Living
Creature.
 
New Activity
 
On the Occasion of 11th Anniversary of our Trust, this year we have
started new Activity of "EYE DONATION MOVEMENT"  with Tarun Mitra
Mandal ( Worlds Largest & Biggest Human Chain Devoted to Eye Donations)
 
We Covered Thane, Mulund, Bhandup, Kanjur Marg, Vikhroli & Powai Area
for 24Hrs. We Received Calls from Donners Family Members, Eye
Hospitals, Eye Banks , Nursing Home & Doctors. After the Call is
Received the Case is attended within 45 Mnts by Our below given
Doctors & Volunteers.
 
After Collecting Eyes we send at K.B.H.Bachooali Hospital ( Parel )
for Preserving & Further Procedure.
 
Our Message to Every Individual and Readers " Our Eyes after our Life
can be useful to someone so please DONATE  EYES  RESTORE  SIGHT ".
 
It is High Time that everybody should take initiative to spread the
message of Eye Donation to the family members, relatives and friends
by persuading them that after death instead of wasting precious eyes,
we should donate them and make Blind persons see the beautiful world.
 
Public Awareness can be done by Advertisement, Hand Bills, Banners,
Stickers and Seminars.
