The above history is compiled by Mr. Sanjay Ketkar from their documentary
film on Mulund. This is the first and only documentary film on any suburb of
Mumbai. Below is an introduction to the film:
Mulund, the last suburb if east end of Mumbai has by and large notable
historical significance and importance. Change and evolution is the rule of
nature. In this evolutionary process Mulund existed in the past and will
persist in the future. Also the little township of Mulund has marched
towards progress and development with persistent, hope, enthusiasm and
optimism. It has prospered each day by overcoming the social, economical and
political hurdles that come its way.
Bearing the same thought in mind, two residents of Mulund, Mr. Sashi
Sreedhar (Interior Designer by profession) and Mr. Jayant Chheda (Printer -
Publisher - Editor and Owner of "GURJARMAT", a seven year old, leading
Gujarati weekly News Paper published on every Wednesday from Mulund) out of
immense love, admiration and respect for the suburb, have come together and
implemented the project of A Documentary film on Mulund based on the
Original concept of Mr. Sashi Sreedhar. Mr. Sanjay Ketkar (Video Journalist
& Renowned Director of Documentary films made on leading scientists of India
like Dr. R.A.Mashelkar, Dr. A.V.Ramarao and currently working on Dr.
C.N.R.Rao) has directed the film.
The 63 minutes Documentary film made in VCD format is the first of its kind
made on any particular suburb of Mumbai. It gives the minute details and the
conditions that prevailed in Mulund, 2000 years ago in the form of history.
It further shows how Mulund has developed slowly but consistently from then
on till the present day. The film covers various educational, religious,
cultural, social, Government and Non-Government institutions that have come
up in Mulund. It has various celebrities from the Glamour world like Nitin
Desai, Yukta Mukhey, Jayesh Sheth including Sports personalities like Sachin
Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid giving views and showing their love and respect
